Cubs | Trammell joins team as bench coach
The Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan reports Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella chose former Detroit Tigers SS and manager Alan Trammell as his bench coach on Oct. 23, filling the second spot on his coaching staff. Trammell signed a two-year contract to serve as Piniella's right-hand man after Piniella's longtime bench coach, John McClaren, opted to take on the same responsibilities under Mike Hargrove in Seattle.
