Bears | Fast facts: Hester excelling on punt returns

Mike Corbo, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears rookie CB/PR Devin Hester has excelled on punt returns so far this year, as he currently leads the NFL in punt returns (27), punt return yards (367), punt return average (13.6) and punt return touchdowns (2). Hester is on pace to break the NFL single-season record for punt returns (70, Danny Reece, Tampa Bay, 1979) and punt return yards (875, Desmond Howard, Green Bay, 1996). In addition, Hester broke the club's single-game franchise record for punt return yards with 152 yards in Week 6. Former Hall of Fame RB Gale Sayers (134 yards) held the previous team record set in 1965.
