Blue Jays | Owner okay with losing $25 million
TSN.ca reports the Toronto Blue Jays are expected to lose $25 million or more this season, although owner, Ted Rogers, views that as acceptable. Rogers, who owns Rogers Media Inc., expects a total revenue of $8.8 billion this season, and the company views the Blue Jays as a business investment and a way to connect with Southern Ontario, one of the biggest markets in Canada. The report also notes Blue Jays ticket sales have gone from $31 million in 2003, to $52 million, which has also increased broadcast rights and concession sales.
