Angels | Salmon surpasses Downing on games played list
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim DH Tim Salmon appeared in his 1,662nd regular-season game with the team, Saturday, Sept. 9, against the Toronto Blue Jays, surpassing Brian Downing for second place on the all-time list, according to the Associated Press. He struck out as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. Salmon, who intends to retire at the end of the season, trails Garret Anderson on the list by 80 games (1,742 and counting).
