Patriots | Running game leads to dominate time of possession
Mark Farinella, of the Sun Chronicle, reports rookie RB Laurence Maroney and RB Corey Dillon combined for 16 carries and 54 yards on the ground in the first half of the Patriots' 30-3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Saturday evening, Aug. 19. The Patriots rushed for 157 yards against the Cardinals, and that kind of ball control amounted to a 42:16-17:44 edge in time of possession. "I didn't even know we had the ball that long, but it let us know that we are capable of running the ball that long and controlling the clock," Maroney said. Maroney also doesn't have a problem with sharing the load with Dillon and fellow RB Kevin Faulk, who contributed 21 rushing yards and 34 passing yards on three receptions.
