Rams | Punters will split first preseason game

Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams head coach Scott Linehan said he expects P Andy Groom and P Matt Turk to split the punting chores in the team's preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 10. "I hope that the better man wins," said Groom. "I just want a fair shot, that's all." Getting an even opportunity has been difficult, Groom said. "This is my fourth camp, I haven't had one yet," he said. "You get a lot of guys that have been around forever, and the coaches feel good if they've got game experience. It's just hard to break into the league." Turk has improved after struggling early in camp, when he missed a couple of workouts after fluid collected behind the knee on his right (kicking) leg.
