49ers | Team likes what they see in Gilmore

Dennis Georgatos, of the San Jose Mercury News, reports the San Francisco 49ers like what they see in WR Bryan Gilmore. The 49ers signed Gilmore on the recommendation of receivers coach Jerry Sullivan, who coached Gilmore with Arizona and Miami. "In meeting with him, the thing that stood out is his desire to establish himself as a wide receiver," head coach Mike Nolan said Wednesday, Aug. 2. "He's been called a good special-teams player and he wants to change that a little bit, and that's good. That shows some motivation on his part." Gilmore has flashed speed and precision running routes in practice. Nolan added that Gilmore's strong showing at training camp has made him the leading contender to be the No.3 receiver, behind starters WRs Arnaz Battle and Antonio Bryant.
