Hot off the Wire news, rumors and tips

Falcons | Randall to battle for No. 3 QB spot

Dave Fairbank, of the Daily Press, reports Atlanta Falcons QB Bryan Randall is currently listed as the team's No. 3 quarterback heading into training camp. He did two short stints on the Falcons' practice squad last season. He signed a free agent contract after he went undrafted in 2005, then re-upped with the team in January. Though Randall feels good about his standing within the organization, he does not have a free ride to a roster spot. The Falcons not only drafted a quarterback last spring, they chose a local hero - former Georgia QB D.J. Shockley. "That's the business side coming back again," Randall said with a chuckle. "I knew they were going to take a guy. They made me aware that they were either going to take a guy in the later rounds or bring in a free agent because they wanted to take four quarterbacks to camp. So it wasn't really a shocker when they brought in Shockley. It's good competition. It's good to have somebody else there pushing you, making sure you're working your hardest and you're at the top of your game. It doesn't really bother me at all."
