Vikings | Barlow to work with team’s coaching staff
Jeff Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports former NFL WR Reggie Barlow, now the quarterbacks coach at Alabama State, is spending a couple of weeks with the Minnesota Vikings as part of the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship Program. Barlow told the Star Tribune in early May he wasn't thrilled about Vikings' head coach Brad Childress' comments following the Vikings' decision to take Barlow's pupil, QB Tarvaris Jackson, in the second round of the NFL Draft. At the time, Childress said: "I think (Jackson) is a sponge. You are talking about a guy that never had a coach there as a quarterbacks coach. So what can he do with coaching?" Barlow responded by saying: "The Vikings made it sound like he didn't have any coaching down here. I would say to Childress, Don't drag us down like that." Barlow won't be able to stick around for training camp because of his responsibilities at Alabama State.
