Dodgers | Morris selected No. 26

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected RHP Avery Morris, of Motlow State Community College (Tenn.), with the No. 26 pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He was a third-round pick of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays last season and broke his left wrist sliding headfirst into a base. A two-way player and left-handed hitter, he has a great curveball and a fastball that can reach the mid 90s. The team received the pick as compensation from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for losing Type A free agent Jeff Weaver.
