Texans | Smith addresses personnel strategy, coach Kubiak reports Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith addressed the media in his introduction as the new general manager for the Texans Monday, June 5. Smith talked about what kind of players the Texans would look for, "I think that number one, scouts, we tend to value height, weight and speed. But then, the most important thing I think that you look for is what I call football character." Smith talked about head coach Gary Kubiak's ability to endear to his players while gaining their respect at the same time. Smith said it was ironic that Kubiak was hired first, and now he is getting his opportunity with him, because he would have always hired Kubiak if he had ever gotten this opportunity, "This guy is going to be a tremendous, tremendous football coach."
