Patriots | Team has big holes to fill on special teams
John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports no unit of the New England Patriots was hit harder by free agency than the special teams unit. The loss of PK Adam Vinatieri to the Indianapolis Colts received the most press, but the Patriots also lost coverage standout LB Matt Chatham along with punt returner WR Tim Dwight to the New York Jets and gunner WR Andre' Davis signed with the Buffalo Bills. Special teams captain LB Larry Izzo hopes the new members of the unit can fill in for the losses and add to what the unit could not accomplish last year, "We'd like to be better than we were last year and there's definitely room for improvement." Izzo went on to say the easiest way to make a roster is through special teams, and new members will find that out quick because of the emphasis the Patriots place on the unit.
