Eagles | Staubach thinks Nordgren can make it
Bob Grotz, of the Delaware County Times, reports former NFL QB Roger Staubach thinks Philadelphia Eagles rookie free agent QB Matt Nordgren can make it in the NFL, despite very limited college experience. "I think he's a diamond in the rough," Staubach said Friday, May 26, from Dallas. "He's got an NFL arm and he's got size. Sometimes you don't always end up in the best situation and system but a national championship team needs a good backup quarterback, too. I know Matt. He's a real good kid. He was a great high school quarterback. I have visited with him and worked out with him a couple of times and I'm sure the Eagles think he's a diamond in the rough, too." Staubach played with Nordgren's dad George, with the Dallas Cowboys. Staubach, who didn't emerge as the Cowboys starter until 1971, won't be at all surprised if Matt Nordgren makes a career of the NFL.
