NFL | Teen accused of stealing W. Paytonís rings
The Associated Press reports an 18-year-old is accused of stealing former NFL RB Walter Payton's replica Super Bowl ring and a Hall of Fame ring. Jeremy J. Sherman was being held in the Kane County Correctional Center on unrelated charges when he was charged with two counts of theft in connection with the stolen rings, according to police. The rings were stolen March 27 from a display case at Walter Payton's Roundhouse Complex in downtown Aurora, Ill. The rings were recovered by police at a pawnshop where they were sold by two men, one allegedly Sherman. The rings were valued at $4,100, but were sold for only $165. An anonymous tip to Aurora Area Crime Stoppers implicated Sherman in the theft.
