Redskins | Dropping out of Phillips Race

The Washington Post reports the team is on the brink of dropping out of the Lawrence Phillips race and they will instead focus on signing draft pick Champ Bailey and free agent DE Charles Haley. Bailey's agent feels it will take more than $2 million per season for Bailey to accept a five-year deal, while the team wants to keep any five-year deal less than $2 million per season. As far as Phillips goes, coach Norv Turner spoke to Phillips and according to sources of the Post the team may bring in him for a visit next week, although the team expects him to sign elsewhere. Haley's agent told the Redskins they are Haley's top choice but no deal is imminent.
