49ers | Team makes inquiry about J. Williams
Mike Zhe, of the Portsmouth Herald, reports the San Francisco 49ers made a recent inquiry into New Hampshire TE Jon Williams. Scouts love his height (6-foot-3), hands and speed (4.81 seconds in the 40-yard dash). The concerns are his blocking ability, he wasn't asked to do much of that in New Hampshire's multiple-formation scheme, and the level of competition he faced in college. He has bulked up from 230 to 247 pounds since the end of the season. Those who know him expect to see him in an NFL camp this summer, if not as a draftee then as a free agent signing in the days that follow.
