Cubs | Hairston gets letter for Puckett tribute

Cubs.MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports Chicago Cubs infielder Jerry Hairston Jr. has received a letter from Bob Watson, Major League Baseball's vice president of rules and on-field operations, stating he had to wear a clean cap during games and therefore couldn't write the number "34" on his hat as a tribute to Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett. Players are not permitted to make individual alterations to hats or jerseys.
