Mariners | Looking at Petagine for Reserve Role
Larry LaRue, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Mariners 1B Roberto Petagine is in camp trying to win a reserve job. Petagine, a 34-year-old left-handed batter, has only accumulated 339 major league at-bats in parts of six big-league seasons. However, he also spent six seasons playing in Japan and put up huge numbers in that time, including an MVP campaign in 2001 when he had 127 RBI in 138 games. He also won the Japanese home run title twice.
