ESPN.com's Michael Smith reports New England Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini has accepted the team's offer to become their new head coach. Mangini and the Jets were finalizing the deal late Monday, Jan. 16. The Associated Press reported that Jets assistant coaches had been told to report to work Wednesday, Jan. 18, indicating a decision would be made by then. With Mangini getting the job, it is believed that defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson, offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger and special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff will probably be let go.
