Buccaneers | Gruden complains about some controversial calls

Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden discusses some of the controversial calls from the team's Wild Card loss, including WR Edell Shepherd's non-touchdown catch. On Shepherd's play, Gruden said, "I disagreed with the call. I challenged it. I feel that a touchdown reception is looked at differently than a regular reception in the regular field. I believe possession with two feet down is a touchdown, period." On the other controversial calls, Gruden said, "I thought (Washington linebacker LaVar) Arrington fumbled the ball back to us, but that was not challengeable because there was a quick whistle. I felt that (Washington Redskins linebacker Marcus Washington) was touched down not just by one player, but by two players on his long return of a fumble (by Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Carnell Williams). I felt DL Simeon Rice's sack was a sack and was a fumble and was a touchdown. That was not a challengeable play because it was ruled incomplete. I made my case on the grass on Saturday night. But we didn't get those calls."
