Packers | Bates will interview for head coaching job

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jim Bates will be interviewed by general manager Ted Thompson for the Packers head coaching job left vacant Monday, Jan. 2, by the firing of Mike Sherman. Bates has at least one year remaining on his contract, but that's of little concern. "I'm going to look over the whole situation and see what happens," Bates said. "It's happening all over the league. It's a tough day. We'll have to see what goes on and what opportunities there are and just make the right decision."
