NFL | Combine Tidbits

Tony Grossi reported in the Cleveland Plain Dealer some notes about the recent combine in Indianapolis. A potential red flag went up on RB Ricky Williams when his outstretched hand only measured seven inches diagonally from pinky to thumb. That would be considered a fairly small hand and raised a question about a potential fumble issue at the NFL level. There were 323 players at the combine and a record 100 declined to participate in the drills. The fastest 40-yard dash times were 4.37 seconds, CB Paul Miranda (Central Florida), 4.41 seconds, RB Cecil Collins, (Ex-McNeese St.) and 4.42 seconds, WR Tai Streets (Michigan). The highest vertical jump: 43.5 inches, RB Jerry Azumah (New Hampshire), 42 inches, S Pierson Prioleau (Virginia Tech), 41.5 inches, RB De'Mond Parker (Oklahoma) and WR Derrius Thompson (Baylor). OT Aaron Gibson (Wisconsin) was the heaviest player at 386 pounds and the lightest non-kicking player was DB Marvin Love (Kentucky) at 164 pounds.
