NFL | Smith Workout

Rob Moseley reported in the Oregon Daily Emerald that QB Akili Smith and a group of University of Oregon seniors worked out last Friday for a group of 15 to 20 NFL scouts at an indoor facility on the Oregon campus. Smith took part in just two drills, the 40-yard dash a passing drill in which he threw every conceivable route. "I'm just relaxing and having fun, and we'll see what my agent (Leigh Steinberg has to say about the feedback," Smith said. Steinberg said it was a great workout for his client. "It was really a wonderful tryout in terms of velocity on the ball, accuracy and quick release. This was an opportunity to see Akili up close and personal, and I think he's worked his way up so that he's probably in position to be one of the top three or four picks in the first round." CB Eric Edwards ran the fastest 40-yard dash of the day, a 4.47. P Josh Bidwell also worked out. The article only mentioned the Broncos and Falcons by name as teams present at the wokout and it also did not give a 40-time for Smith but did say Smith threw the ball well with timing, touch and accuracy.
