Lions | Penalties hurt Lions during Week 11

Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports the Detroit Lions were called for 17 penalties for 129 yards during their Week 11 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys gained nine first downs off of Lions' penalties. The Lions were visibly frustrated with the officials on two separate occasions Sunday, Nov. 20. Head coach Steve Mariucci was animated at the end of the first half when he tried to call a timeout before the Cowboys kicked a field goal. He didn't get it and Mariucci said, "The explanation was, he has to turn around and look at me." TE Marcus Pollard fired a ball at an official after he felt that he was horse-collar tackled and didn't see a flag for it. Pollard received a personal foul, but was not ejected. Referee Ed Hochuli claimed the ball didn't hit an official, but replays showed that it did.
