Steelers | Football Career Contributed to Long's Death
The Tribune-Review reports repeated blows to the head during former NFL OL Terry Long's eight-year career led to a brain inflammation that killed the former Pittsburgh Steelers guard in June, Allegheny County Coroner Dr. Cyril H. Wecht said Tuesday, Sept. 13. Long's death was caused by cerebral meningitis that resulted from "repeated mild traumatic brain injuries while playing football,'' Wecht said.
