Jaguars | J. Smith Struggling
Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jimmy Smith continued his struggling ways during the team's preseason game Thursday, Sept. 1. Smith played the first four offensive snaps and was thrown three passes by QB Byron Leftwich. None were completed, Smith was covered twice and dropped a third. The drop was wiped off the stat sheet by a penalty, but it was Smith's third in four preseason games. On why Smith was taken out, head coach Jack Del Rio said, "It wasn't a reaction to the play, but he (Smith) did drop it. Ernest did catch it. I know he's (Smith) had too many drops. I know he prides himself being a good receiver for a long time. We expect him to catch it.'' Smith also didn't give his play good reviews. "I wasn't satisfied with my play. I wasn't satisfied at all. I wish I had the whole game to play,'' he said.
