Titans | Johnson Looking for His Shot

The Nashville City Paper reports Tennessee Titans DE Shawn Johnson is looking for a spot on the team's final roster. Johnson spent most of the 2004 season on the team's practice squad. After being release in December, he was re-signed in January. He underwent surgery on both knees to perform cleanup work. He missed the team's May mini-camp work. Johnson believes last year's time on the practice squad could give him a leg up in his fight for a roster spot. The team likes his pass-rushing ability. "He's got sort of a unique ability for pass rushing. He's all over the place running. He's a herky-jerky guy, but he's got a feel for pass rushing," defensive line coach Jim Washburn said. "If you've got to have one thing, then that's a pretty good one to have." Johnson, who still wears braces on both knees, says the off-season surgery has him feeling better than he has in years, and that he can now concentrate on improving his play, not his health. Due to other injuries at defensive end, Johnson practiced with the second team defense during the team's June organized team activities.
