Panthers | Weinke Settling in as No. 2 Quarterback
The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers QB Chris Weinke is starting to settle in as the team's No.2 quarterback. "This coaching staff has seen what I am capable of doing," Weinke said Wednesday, June 1 the first day of Carolina's summer school program. "If they didn't think I was capable, then I wouldn't be here regardless if I am the No. 2 guy, the No. 3 guy or on the bubble. If they didn't think I was (capable), then I would have been gone a long time ago." Weinke feels he is ready to be the guy to step in should QB Jake Delhomme miss any time due to injury. One thing Weinke has not given up on is being a starting NFL quarterback. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to start in this league, so who knows what is going to happen?" he said. "I've got the confidence in myself to be able to think I can start in this league and my career is far from over."
