Packers | No Plans to Add a Punter

Pete Dougherty, of PackersNews.com, reports Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson said he has no plans to add a veteran punter in time for training camp. P B.J. Sander, P Bryce Benekos and P Brooks Barnard are currently competing for the Packers' punting job. They have a total of one game of NFL experience amongst them. Carolina Panthers P Todd Sauerbrun may become available after June 1, if he's not traded, but it is unlikely the Packers would pursue him due to the salary he would command on the open market. In the meantime, Thompson appears content to wait and see what he has in Sander, Benekos and Barnard. Sander is currently punting well in NFL Europe.
