Chiefs | Cunningham to Test Patroling the Sidelines
Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham has decided to move from his traditional perch up in the press box to the sideline, where he can inject his in-your-face style frequently. "That's the most important thing, without a doubt, to be able to look them in the eye and be able to get a better feel," said Cunningham, the Chiefs' defensive coordinator. "It's a lot easier to know where they are (emotionally). Being upstairs, you're removed and you can't feel your guys well enough." Head coach Dick Vermeil prefers his coordinators be upstairs in the press box, but he is willing to go along with Cunningham's plan on what he called an experimental basis. The two will try Cunningham's plan during preseason games to see how it goes.
