Panthers | Jones Tackles New Roles

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers TE Freddie Jones, who is recognized as a pass-receiving tight end, is anxious to work with his new team and contribute as a run-blocker this year. "I know the focus of this team is to have a great running game," Jones said. "I know that's going to require a lot of work out of me. I knew that when I came here. (Tight ends coach) Dave Magazu is a great coach as far as getting blocking techniques down. ... He said I'm making some strides, but I've still got work to do." Jones also disclosed the team has plans to utilize him as a fullback and H-back this season, two positions he will begin to learn during June workouts.
