Bears | George Signed

The Chicago Bears have signed QB Jeff George to a one-year contract, according to Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com. Financial details were not immediately released, but it is believed that the deal is for the league minimum of $760,000, prorated over the final five games of the season. George is expected to begin his tenure with the Bears as their third-string quarterback, but could end up playing before the end of the year, and the team could also use this time as an audition toward possibly signing him for 2005. George, 36, has not played in the NFL since the 2001 season.
