Dolphins | Wannstedt Officially Steps Down

Updating ongoing reports, Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt officially resigned from the team Tuesday, Nov. 9. "I believe that it's the proper decision at this time in terms of being a professional ... I have too much respect for the players in this organization and the ownership of this organization to allow myself and my situation to be the focal point for the remainder of the football season," Wannstedt said. "There are a number of things that you can point to if you want to look for reasons why I'm here standing in front of you today. Many of those things I had no control over, but those things are not important today. Nobody wants to hear about excuses. Someone has to accept the responsibility, the ultimate responsibility, I'm the head coach, and that falls on me."
