Dolphins | Bates to Take Over

Alex Marvez and Craig Barnes, of the Sun-Sentinel, report Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Jim Bates will take over as the team's interim head coach, replacing Dave Wannstedt, who is expected to resign Tuesday, Nov. 9. Bates, 48, has been the team's defensive coordinator since 2000 and is the team's only member of the coaching staff with professional head coaching experience. He held the position with the San Antonio Gunslingers, of the United States Football League in 1985.
