Lions | Donít Squash Trade Rumors Quite Yet

Updating previous reports, according to James Royer of DetroitLions.com, the Detroit Lions may still be interested in trading out of the No. 6 overall spot in the draft in order to stockpile additional picks in later rounds. One rumor as of late has the Lions making a deal with the New England Patriots who currently have four selections in the first two rounds. Personnel people from both teams have already squashed those speculations, but the two sides have talked. "The only non-sense was that it was already agreed upon," Lions head coach Steve Mariucci said. "Nothing has been agreed upon. Did we speak to (the Patriots)? Absolutely. I talked to Bill Belichick at the combine and Matt Millen has had some conversations since." And New England isn't the only team Detroit has spoken with about a deal. "It's what you do in your draft preparations," Marucci added. "We have had discussions with several teams. You start throwing out numbers in terms of what it will take to do it. I think if anything happens, it will be while we are on the clock."
