Updating a previous item, the AP's Bernie Wilson reports San Diego Padres Rule 5 selection RP Jason Szuminski made the team's 25-man Opening Day roster. He becomes the first MIT graduate to reach the major leagues. Additionally, the aerospace engineering graduate serves as a first lieutenant in the US Air Force. He will switch over to the active reserve on Tuesday, trading in one more year of active duty service still owed for three years in the Air Force Reserve.
