Bills | Stewart Would Accept Backup Role Behind Bledsoe

Allen Wilson, of the Buffalo News, reports free agent QB Kordell Stewart (Bears) still wants to be an NFL starting quarterback, but said he was willing to accept the role as Buffalo Bills QB Drew Bledsoe's understudy. Stewart, who visited the Bills on Wednesday, March 24, has shown serious interest in Buffalo, since he's familiar with Bills president and general manager Tom Donahoe, head coach Mike Mularkey and offensive coordinator Tom Clements all formerly with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Donahoe was the Steelers' director of pro personnel when Stewart was drafted in 1995, while Mularkey and Clements served as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach, respectively, during the final two years of Stewart's tenure at Pittsburgh.
