NFL | Zimmerman Resigns From HOF Selection Committee
ESPN.com reports veteran Sports Illustrated writer Paul Zimmerman, who was upset and frustrated with the Pro Football Hall of Fame's selection process and a failure to get former Dallas Cowboys star Bob Hayes inducted, has resigned from the Hall's Senior Selection Committee. The committee nominated Hayes and former Oakland Raiders offensive lineman Bob Brown; only Brown won induction to the Hall of Fame Saturday. "Why should we knock ourselves out all summer and present these guys just to have these assassins sit in a room and stick a knife in their back?" Zimmerman told The Dallas Morning News. "I'm not going to be their dancing bear anymore." Hayes made it farther than ever in the selection process than he ever had before but still fell short.
