49ers | Erickson Says Garcia Is His Starter

ESPN.com reports San Francisco 49ers head coach Dennis Erickson said Monday, Nov. 3, that QB Jeff Garcia (ankle) remains the team's starting quarterback, as long as he is healthy enough to play. "If Jeff is healthy and he can move around like he can move around, he'll be the starting quarterback," Erickson said. "It's as simple as that." Garcia was replaced in Week 9 by backup QB Tim Rattay, who led San Francisco to a decisive 30-10 win over the St. Louis Rams, because of a severely sprained ankle. San Francisco has a Bye this week, giving Garcia more time to heal his ailing ankle before the team's next game Monday, Nov. 17, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
