Falcons | Team Keeping Only Two QBs

The Associated Press reports despite losing QB Michael Vick (leg) for all of September, the Atlanta Falcons will begin the season with only two healthy quarterbacks on their 53-man roster. Atlanta cut 16 players, including fourth-string QB David Rivers. The earliest Vick could return from a broken bone in his lower right leg is a Week 5 home game with the Minnesota Vikings. Until then, Falcons QB Doug Johnson will start at quarterback for the Falcons, who have only QB Kurt Kittner backing him up. 'Ideally, you want to have three healthy quarterbacks,'' said Faclons vice president of football operations Ron Hill. ''But for the short period of time we're talking about, we felt it was best to do this so we could keep players for other spots.''
