Dodgers.MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports the Los Angeles Dodgers won a bidding war by signing 16-year-old SS Juan Rivera with a $400,000 signing bonus. "His style of play is similar to [former big league SS] Tony Fernandez," said Rene Francisco, the Dodgers' director of international scouting. "This one guy makes the year. He's a special kid. He can play defense. He's very instinctive. And he has a chance to hit. He can be a complete player."
