Steelers | Zereoue In, Bettis Out

Bob Labriola, of, reports Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said at a Wednesday, Aug. 20 news conference that Steelers RB Amos Zereoue would open the 2003 season as the starting running back. Cowher said he came to a "gut" decision Monday, Aug. 18, two days after the Steelers' second pre-season game, and informed Zereoue and Steelers RB Jerome Bettis of the decision. "We will use Jerome and Amos a lot," said Cowher. "Both of them will play, and hopefully we'll be able to keep them fresh all year. But we don't have any preconceived notions. Whoever is running the best will play."
