Chiefs | Andersen Kicking Off

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil initially wanted to save wear and tear on K Morten Andersen (knee), who will be 43 next month and in December had surgery to repair cartilage damage in his plant knee. The plan was to use either P Jason Baker or P Leo Araguz to kick off. But the Chiefs aren't confident either player can kick off as well as Andersen. An alternative is K Jose Cortez, the other kicker in camp. Cortez excels on kickoffs, but Vermeil is unlikely to use a roster spot for a player who does nothing else.
