Jets | Evans: Lose Appeal, Lose Bonus
Updating previous reports, the Star-Ledger reports if New York Jets DT Josh Evans loses his appeal on his latest positive test for marijuana, the team would recoup the $3 million option bonus it paid him in March to pick up the final three years of the contract. If a lifetime ban is placed on Evans, the Jets will gain $1 million of his prorated bonus on the salary cap this season. Finally, if the Jets decide to release Evans outright, they would get rid of his entire $1.2 million base salary and see a cap savings of $2.2 million.
