Braves | Triple Shot of Long Ball

The AP’s Paul Newberry reports the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday became only the second team in history to open a game with home runs in the first three at-bats. Facing Cincinnati Reds SP Jeff Austin, SS Rafael Furcal, 2B Mark DeRosa and OF Gary Sheffield opened the game with home runs. The San Diego Padres also accomplished the feat in 1987. The Braves also added a fourth home run in the first inning, tying a franchise record for most home runs in a single inning.
