Browns | Police and Courts: Darren Hambrick
The Associated Press reports Cleveland Browns LB Darren Hambrick answered an arrest warrant in Florida Monday and turned himself in to authorities on charges that he stole a check from the Carolina Panthers while he was with the team. He is accused of stealing a $5,682.51 check from the team in October 2001. He received a payroll check on November 11, but then asked the team to stop payment on it because he never received it. He was then issued another check, and cashed it along with the other check he already received, court records said. “It is our understanding that all moneys have been returned,” said Browns spokesman Todd Stewart. Hambrick posted bail on Monday, but no initial court appearance has been set. If convicted, he could face a fine, probation, or jail time.
