The staff of FanHouse invited KFFL to join their recent fantasy baseball mock party; kudos to them for the VIP pass. On behalf of KFFL, I snuck behind the velvet rope and had very few Hangover moments. Or so I think. Want more? Keep reading…

Before we arrive at some analysis, I’ll point to some words my colleague Nicholas Minnix nailed in his section yesterday. Hard to add to what he said, but I’ll try.
Not often can you return from Las Vegas a true winner. In the case of this week’s Fantasy Sports Trade Association winter conference, our KFFL.com contingent rubbed elbows with our own kind, meeting some of the real good guys and gals in the industry. Want more? Keep reading…

I can’t think of another division in baseball that has changed more considerably this offseason than the American League West. I barely recognize some of these clubs anymore, most notably the Seattle Mariners. It should be very interesting to see if the M’s, Rangers or Athletics can knock the Angels from their AL West throne in 2010.
While the gap between the Angels and the others in the West has shrunk, there is no shortage of fantasy talent to be found there.

Back from the Fantasy Sports Trade Association conference in Vegas. Stupendous trip. This industry is full of some wonderful people.
I won’t waste time: The FSTA/Fantasy Football Librarian/The Most Credible Accuracy Award delivered some good news for KFFL.
As lead baseball editor, I’m proudest of KFFL’s second-place showing in the fantasy baseball projections accuracy contest. It’s not first place, but it’s darn close – we missed it by a hair. Want more? Keep reading…

A few fantasy baseball observations down in the A
Wags the dog
My first thought when I heard that the Atlanta Braves signed Billy Wagner, at the beginning of December: Wow, he’s going to be a steal. Fantasy baseball Joes don’t like old heads (he’s 38), especially when old heads just left the hospital (he had elbow surgery in September 2008). Want more? Keep reading…

In 2010, I believe in Scott Kazmir. Not just because I partake in Led Zeppelin, either.
I trashed the former Rays southpaw last year. This is why the roto community fantasizes every year: redemption stories and shifting values.
And in this case, bargain-basement clearance sales. Want more? Keep reading…

Welcome to the Happy Hour edition of Rounding the Bases. Each week, Tim Heaney takes you around the majors with his spin on fantasy baseball trends, news highlights and player scouting. He welcomes you to join him as he circles the bags at his admirably slow, Prince Fielder-esque pace.
Out of the box
I owned Ian Stewart last season in the K-BAD Expert League, drafting him late mainly as Garrett Atkins insurance. Boy, Geico couldn’t match that peace of mind – but there were still problems. Want more? Keep reading…

With Spring Training roughly five weeks away, it’s time for you fantasy baseball fanatics to start prepping for your 2010 drafts (if you haven’t done so already).
No doubt Albert Pujols, Hanley Ramirez and Alex Rodriguez are the cream of the fantasy position-player crop again this year. But who will be the aging veteran that bounces back for a surprise year (the Russell Branyan of the 2010 season, if you will)?

The Hawk makes the Hall of Fame, Big Mac recites the words of shame, and all your favorite cellar dwellers remain lame.
If it’s all the same – no dis to Andre Dawson, Mark McGwire and residents of repulsive rosters all around – I’ll turn my attention to the fabrication of fake fantasy baseball franchises. Want more? Keep reading…

I guess I have to weigh in on the Mark McGwire stuff, eh? You twisted my arm.
I still think Mac should be in the Hall of Fame, regardless of how much he is or isn’t talking about the past. We ask for these users’ apologies, and then we complain that they didn’t confess enough. Great interview by Bob Costas, too. Want more? Keep reading…
