ESPNews reports Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden (knee) will be out two to four weeks with a torn meniscus.
McFadden put forth a dismal performance in Week 4, but his knee injury could have affected his play. He finished the game with minus three yards on six carries and one catch for five yards.
McFadden has been fairly average so far this season on the ground. He has rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown on 47 carries (3.1 yards per carry) in four games. Mike Florio, of ProFootballTalk.com, reports the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with unrestricted free-agent running back Edgerrin James (Arizona Cardinals) on a one-year deal worth $2 million, according to a league source.
James was released by the Cardinals after the team drafted running back Chris Wells in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft and has been looking for the right opportunity. James was in the starting lineup at the start of the 2008 season but lost his job to running back Tim Hightower around the midpoint and saw limited playing time for the rest of the regular season. Jones, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall worked with the scout team during practice Wednesday, Aug. 19, and admits that he is very far behind learning the new offense. It is not known how long Marshall will play in the team’s preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22. Bob Glauber, of Newsday, speculates the Broncos likely will eventually suspend Marshall for conduct detrimental to the team.
Marshall asked for a trade because of his unhappiness with his contract situation. Hip surgery in late March was another reason he missed most offseason workouts. A holdout and his rehab have held him back in terms of learning the offense head coach Josh McDaniels has brought to the team. Marshall believes there are trust issues between he and the team.
