Several prospects were drafted in the third round and could pose fantasy owners decisions to make on draft day.

Shonn Greene, Running Back, New York Jets

The Jets traded away three of their four remaining selections in the draft to move up to the first pick in the third round so they could land University of Iowa running back Shonn Greene. Highly productive for one year (1,850 yards, 20 touchdowns), Greene is a big back (5-foot-10 1/2, 227 pounds) with amazingly quick feet for his size. He encountered academic problems entering Iowa and while he was attending, costing him the 2006 season due to ineligibility, but he’s a freight train on the field. Barring an injury to tailback Thomas Jones, who is 31 years old in August, I don’t see Greene receiving much playing time in 2009. He is a stash player for the 2010 season if fantasy owners in keeper leagues have the room. If you want to take a shot on him with a final-round flier in 2009, it wouldn’t hurt. Jones owners would be wise to handcuff Greene in deep leagues. Want more? Keep reading…

Maualuga slid into the second round to the surprise of many.

Rey Maualuga | Linebacker | Southern California Trojans | Drafted by: Cincinnati Bengals
Many people were surprised to see Maualuga fall into the second round. I feel that was appropriate given his lack of lateral range and speed. He’s a high-intensity player, and maybe he’ll do just fine with the Cincinnati Bengals, but the entire league saw something they didn’t like in him in the first round. It was no surprise his two USC linebacking teammates went ahead of him. Want more? Keep reading…
