Lions choose Matthew Stafford as No. 1 pick
Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford is the Detroit Lions’ No. 1 pick overall and also the owner of the largest contract ever given to a rookie.
According to Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, the deal is worth $78 million over six years and includes $41.7 million in guaranteed money.
Yes, that is $41.7 million to a player who has never started an NFL game, thrown an NFL pass or went through an NFL practice. Ridiculous money to say the least! I could go on for hours about that, but I will save that discussion for another day. Want more? Keep reading…
